When God says GO and We say WHOA!

There are times in our lives when God says to MOVE. No more praying about something we’ve longed for…it’s time to GO! We may stay stuck instead of seeing a breakthrough because we’re still praying about something God has already tried to answer.

In the book of Exodus we see a fascinating story where God says it’s time to stop praying and start moving. After centuries of slavery to the Egyptians, God’s people are finally free to leave that region and travel to a new place. Moving over a million people is no small task, and after two weeks of travel away from slavery, God’s people are camped near the sea.

Exodus 14:5-9 explains that the people become terrified once again because Pharoah and his soldiers are in pursuit of them and have them boxed in. Terror rises and fear abounds!

Sometimes God will allow a situation to get worse before it gets better to strengthen your heart and your belief. Faith is like a muscle, and it only gets stronger if you exercise it and keep it active.

In verses 10-12 we hear the voice of the multitude questioning their leader, their freedom, and their God. In hard times, Christians should be the most confident, but often our voices sound like one of three types of people:

·      The Negatives

·      The Fearfuls

·      The Challengers

Thankfully Moses was an encourager and spoke against their fear and negativity. As he is encouraging and praying, the Lord gives him a clear message… “It’s time to stop praying and start moving.” He instructs Moses to lift his staff over the waters, and suddenly the winds of change begin.

All of us have the chance to witness types of miracles of provision, healing and God’s presence—but part of the miracle is in our mouths, our hearts, and our belief. It’s time to move…to believe…and not be afraid.
